The ING Sport team took a year out from racing in 2014, but return this season in the Endurance Racing Series.
The team, headed by businessman and experienced race and rally exponent Ian Lawson, complemented by the legendary Mike Wilds and son Anthony, will campaign a new car this year though. The familiar BMW 320i touring car, in which the squad have taken multiple Production endurance titles over the last few years, has been replaced by a stunning BMW Z4 GT3 machine, sourced from West Coast Racing in Sweden, and which formerly raced in the Blancpain championship.
Little pre-season testing is planned, but that should prove no issue for the experienced drivers as they prepare to qualify at Rockingham for Round 1 on April 18th; Mike Wilds is a veteran of F1, Le Mans, and holds many sportscar titles, and Anthony Wilds similarly took several Sports 2000 championships during a varied career. The team are relishing their return to the circuits in their new car, as Anthony enthused; “We haven’t changed anything on the car at all, as we’re just getting used to it. The ERS race will probably only be the third time we’ve been in the car, but I love Rockingham, and can’t wait to be back out racing again”.
